Art of the week is a writing series that each week I will introduce an artist from different design fields. The first artist is Tamer Koseli who is a designer and an illustrator from İstanbul. He was born and raised in Switzerland until the age of 9. Later on he settled in Turkey and studied in Eskisehir where he completed his bachelors degree in fashion and industrial design. In 2010, he founded his studio in Istanbul. So far he worked for Nike, Monocle, The North Face, Olympics, WSJ, The New York Times and so on.
Symbolcities is one of his most successful work based on my opinion, because of its major characteristics of city symbols. His design is clean, pure, geometric and unique. He illustrated several cities like İstanbul, London and New York. For İstanbul, the symbols of the city are Galata Tower, Nostalgic Tram, Simit Cort etc.
Besides these projects, he has been working for branding of coffee houses and restaurants such as Mitte and Son.
I can clearly say that Tamer Koseli has an individual style which is very unique. Just by looking at one of his illustrations, we can understand that that work was designed by Tamer Koseli.
