This thesis project can be placed within a context of study, analysis, and development of programs for the regeneration of marginal territories, which are places, separated from urban realities, that contain important resources that constitute opportunities for local development. Specifically, the subject of study is the Querio village (Ingria, Turin), an abandoned place since the 1960s, which today can represent a redemption for a territory that needs enhancement. This work is not only a design exercise but also aims to define a regeneration process that can represent a model of local and territorial development, based on real needs obtained from a specific process made up of different phases.

At first, studies were undertaken with the aim of knowing the places, their history, culture and heritage, components that represent fundamental resources for the development of a territorial identity. The second phase was aimed at defining a network of contacts that constituted a real client with which the development key for the village was outlined: social inclusion using the mountains as a rehabilitation scenario in order to generate welfare. The third phase was carried out through the study and knowledge aimed at first at knowing the themes and definitions related to the concept of disability, secondly, knowing the practice of “Montagnaterapia”, the scientific characteristics present in the basis of this activity, therefore the principles of occupational therapy were studied which allowed us to define an user framework within which to develop the fourth and last phase. It took shape with the definition of an architectural project at different scales aimed at demonstrating that morphologically complex territories can be adapted, in an accessible perspective, for the definition of inclusive and therapeutic spaces, highlighting the strong relationship between architecture and occupational therapy. Therefore, the mountain environment has been treated through three main aspects, the first concerns the revitalization of the Alpine territory, the second deals with the facing of the inaccessible mountain paradigm through the adaptation of spaces, and the third has allowed to define the mountain as a strong rehabilitation tool by exploiting the contamination of certain portions of the territory.
