An initial concept of a spaceship with a cylindrical form started the ball rolling. A “spaceship” in a sense where everything a person needs/wants is within the compounds of the site, creating this community/neighbourhood like environment that encapsulates education, recreation, culture and commercial aspects of the population. A stark and monolithic front is contrasted and complimented by a central open plaza, that is the heart and core of the site. Surrounded by buildings, the central plaza transforms into a public interior where people are out in the open but feel like they are inside. Sticking out like a sore thumb this dynamic transformation seeks to create an interaction between architecture and landscape, inside and outside, and rather than an addition of a mass with the same architectural language, this new form exist as a complimentary contrast to the existing.
