History
Cambridge University is a state research university located in Cambridge, United Kingdom. Founded in 1209. Cambridge is the 2nd oldest university in English-speaking countries and the fourth oldest in the entire world. The undergraduate architecture program requires no prior knowledge of architecture. This makes the degree a recognised starting point for a professional career rather than a purely academic qualification.
Preparing a Strong Application
Competition for places is intense, so a thoughtful application matters. Although no formal art or architecture background is required, applicants are usually expected to show evidence of creative ability and visual thinking, often through a portfolio of drawings, paintings, photographs, or models. Strong results in mathematics and a science subject such as physics are valued because of the technical content of the course.
Interviews are a central part of the selection process. Candidates should be ready to discuss buildings they admire, explain the thinking behind their own creative work, and respond to unfamiliar design problems. Demonstrating genuine curiosity about how people use space tends to leave a far better impression than rehearsed answers.
Life After Graduation
Graduates from Cambridge go on to a wide range of careers.
