Kuşadası Modern: Kuşadası and its Surroundings in the Architecture of Nafi Çil opens on 6 October 2026 at the Kuşadası Municipality İbramaki Art Gallery and runs until 16 October. Held as part of the 2026 Architecture Week, the exhibition looks at the modern architectural heritage of the Aegean resort town through the buildings of Nafi Çil, an architect and painter who worked extensively in and around Kuşadası.
Prepared by Deniz Güner, Ela Çil, Süleyman Burçak Çıkıkçı and Deniz Naz Sipahioğlu, the show is documentary in character. It brings together archive documents, oral history research and original photographs of the buildings taken by Nafi Çil and Naci Örcan at the time they were completed. By recording how the buildings first looked, the exhibition also invites visitors to consider how they have changed since, and what those changes say about the spatial and social transformation of Kuşadası.
The exhibition is organised jointly by the Kuşadası Representation and the Izmir Branch of the Chamber of Architects of Turkey, Kuşadası Municipality and the Mirasın Kuşadası Hali heritage initiative. The opening takes place on Tuesday, 6 October, at 15:00.
