The Buildner Unbuilt Award 2025 is an international competition that invites architects, designers, and students to present their most innovative unbuilt projects. This platform celebrates the creative process, recognizing designs that, while not yet realized, push the boundaries of architectural thinking and envision the future of the built environment.

Submission Categories

The Buildner Unbuilt Award 2025 offers a thoughtfully structured categorization system to ensure fair evaluation across a diverse range of project scales. Entries are divided into three distinct categories: Small Wonders, which includes projects with a total area of up to 100 square meters; Medium Marvels, for those ranging between 101 and 999 square meters; and Large Visions, encompassing expansive concepts that exceed 1,000 square meters. This classification allows designers to compete within comparable scopes, ensuring that both compact, innovative ideas and ambitious, large-scale proposals are equally recognized for their architectural merit and conceptual strength.

Awards and Recognition

The competition offers a total prize fund of €100,000, distributed as follows:

  • Category Winners:

    Small Scale: €20,000
    Medium Scale: €20,000
    Large Scale: €20,000

  • Honourable Mentions:

    Five in each category, €1,000 each

  • Student Awards:

    One in each category, €5,000 each

  • Best Presentation Award:

    €10,000

  • Continuum Trophy:

    Awarded to each category winner; designed by Germans Ermičs

  • ArchDaily Internship:

    A 3–6 month remote internship opportunity for one selected winner
