Arkitera Architecture Centre has opened applications for Malzeme Dersliği 06, the sixth edition of its material workshop programme for architects and interior architects. Over five weeks, from 19 November to 16 December 2026, building material manufacturers lead in person sessions in Istanbul on how materials work and how to choose them. Applications close on Wednesday 11 November 2026 at 23:59.
About the programme
Arkitera starts from a gap it sees in architectural education: students rarely get to know building materials from the point of view of the industry, and it can be hard to connect theory with practice. Yet the choice of material shapes a building’s durability, environmental impact, energy performance and user experience. The programme aims to deepen the material knowledge of young and experienced architects and interior architects so that they make informed and innovative choices in design. Topics include traditional and contemporary building materials, their physical and chemical properties, sustainable options, smart materials and digital fabrication.
Schedule
- 19 November: opening lecture by Ali Derya Dostoğlu and Uğur Özer, followed by a session with Kilsan.
- 24 November: AXOR and Hansgrohe, held at the AXOR and Hansgrohe headquarters.
- 3 December: Karoistanbul and Blum.
- 10 December: HEMEL and Pimapen.
- 16 December: EGGER, then a pop quiz and the certificate ceremony.
All other sessions take place at Tasarım Atölyesi Kadıköy. The lessons are held in person only, with no online option, and are not recorded on video or audio.
Who can apply
The programme accepts 35 to 40 participants. It is open to undergraduate students in architecture or interior architecture departments in their third year or above, and to graduates of these fields, with no upper age limit. Participants must attend at least 90 percent of the lessons, and those who do receive a certificate at the end of the five weeks.
How to apply

A portfolio showing basic design skills, such as sketches, studio projects or material experiments, is optional. Arkitera selects the participants and informs those accepted. The organiser does not mention a fee.
