Frequently Asked Questions

How is AI used in architecture?

Architects use AI to generate early images and options, test site and feasibility studies, analyse sun, wind and noise, draft plans and speed up office tasks. The design decisions still rest with the architect.

Will AI replace architects?

AI can automate parts of the work, but design judgement, client relationships, coordination and legal responsibility remain with people. Our guides look at how the role is changing rather than disappearing.

What is parametric architecture?

Parametric architecture uses rules and variables to generate and adjust form. Change a parameter, such as a curve or a panel size, and the whole model updates, which makes complex geometry easier to explore.

What is the difference between parametric and computational design?

Computational design is the wider field of using algorithms and code in design. Parametric design is one approach within it, where form is driven by linked parameters.

Do architects need to learn to code?

It is not required for every role, but scripting helps with parametric modelling and automation. Our guide compares the languages architects most often start with.
