White Heat by Lori Morris

This 11,000 square foot, contemporary diamond in the rough proved to be the perfect opportunity for this busy family of six, to relocate to a gated, waterside community in a neighborhood better suited to their lifestyle. Lori Morris embarked on this top to bottom renovation understanding the vision to create open spaces where everyone can relax or entertain friends and family without intruding in each other’s space.

The feeling had to be sexy, Miami modern and sophisticated, with a clean white palette – but not too precious, where all the kids (and several dogs) could hang out and feel comfortable. Black velvet channel wall panels with matching banquette and white leather curved sofa graciously set the tone for the main living area beyond the dramatic foyer, where a Murano glass and gold cascading light fixture takes center stage.

The palette is classic black and white infused with hints of metal and jewel tones for warmth, creating a cool, edgy vibe. Porcelain tile flooring installed throughout the home resembles the understated warmth of a wood grain, while providing a hardy, low maintenance surface for pets, sports shoes and high traffic.

The family room space boasts a custom built-in daybed and sofa with matching wall panels covered in a rich charcoal velvet, creating the perfect place for the kids to watch TV, chill or hang out with their friends.

Working from home is a must and creating an appropriate space to host colleagues and professional business calls was at the top of their wish list. A custom desk was built to house the client’s computer and electronics, provide significant storage while maintaining the clean sleek lines of the rest of the home.

It is both inviting and dramatic, with walls wrapped in a custom striated wallpaper in rich deep tones of black and brown to create high contrast drama. This is a space that is both comfortable and motivating.

The Master bedroom with gold dripping wallpaper features a white upholstered headboard and soft shimmering palette of nudes, creams and the palest shade of pink, providing the couple a well-deserved retreat from the daily household hustle and bustle.

The master ensuite received the full makeover with a newly constructed, walk-in steam shower, custom double sink vanity and private make-up area, all executed in a striking black and white geometric pattern.

The luxe, amenity filled master ensuite look is clean, bold and in keeping with the sleek lines of the rest of the home.
