Function, Art, or Flow? by Minwoo Kim

Minwoo Kim is an architectural visual artist based in Seoul, South Korea. He is the founder of Flange 8, an independent design studio exploring the intersection of architecture, art, and visual storytelling.

His works have been featured by international architectural media including Competition Archi, ArchZig, and Supra Order, where his conceptual projects have gained recognition for their distinctive architectural narratives and visual expression.

FUNCTION, ART, OR FLOW? explores the relationship between engineering and architectural experience, questioning why technical systems are so often hidden from view.

Emerging from the ground, the vertical elements reject a singular identity. They function simultaneously as infrastructure and sculptural objects, transforming invisible systems into spatial experiences.

Rather than concealing water, air, light, and structural systems, the project gives them architectural presence. Pipes, structural members, and support systems are intentionally exposed, allowing engineering itself to become part of the building’s visual language.

The exhibition invites visitors to experience architecture as a living system where function and aesthetics are inseparable. By revealing the invisible logic behind the building, the project proposes that technical infrastructure can become one of architecture’s most expressive forms.
