Rural and Future, shown in Turkish as Kirsal ve Gelecek, gathers four years of rural geography studios run at the Faculty of Architecture of Istanbul Technical University between 2020 and 2024. The programme runs from 22 September to 21 November 2026 and travels between two venues.
The exhibition opens at the Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture on 22 September 2026 at 17.00 and stays there until 17 October. It then moves to CerModern in Ankara, opening on 27 October 2026 at 17.00 and closing on 21 November. An international symposium, Rural Futures, is held at the Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture on 15 and 16 October.
What is on show
The studios worked on alternative ways of living and building outside the city, and the show is presented as voices from the countryside rather than a single thesis. It is organised by the ITU Faculty of Architecture with ARENA and Alter Rurality.
