📚 Architectural Concept eBook | Architecture Student Guide

“Be creative” is not a process. This eBook, written with Tifa Studio, turns concept design into one: what a concept is and is not, the types you can work with, strategies and inspiration methods for finding yours, and how to evaluate it before the jury does.

It also covers what many young designers skip: empathising with real users and cultures, so your concept convinces rather than just impresses. Through strategies and built examples you learn to generate several workable concepts for a brief, test them against the site and programme, and choose the one you can defend to the end.

📦 What’s inside

• A brief idea about the concept: what a concept is, and what it is not.
• Concept definitions: 18 definitions that help you think of your concept, such as an idea, a solution, a principle or notion, an image and a vision or view, each explained with a built project.
• Concept types: the types and the criteria behind them.
• Concept finding strategies and how to find your concept: step by step methods for when you are stuck. “Break it!” shows how to divide a difficult building into manageable parts: regions by function, spaces, circulation and building form, response to context and the building envelope.

• Inspiration methods: where ideas come from and how to collect them on purpose.
• How to evaluate your concept: questions to test your idea before a review.
• Unlimited Q&A: questions about the book are welcome at [email protected].
