Morphology Lab has launched The 3-Element Challenge, an international ideas competition that limits every proposal to just three elements. Registration closes on 31 October 2026 and submissions are due on 11 December 2026.

The three elements can be read as materials, forms or concepts, and entrants decide how to interpret them. The brief is deliberately open, testing how far an architectural idea can go with the fewest possible ingredients. Projects may be presented through drawings, sketches, collages, diagrams, physical or digital models, or renders.

AI-generated images are not accepted as a complete submission on their own. If AI imagery is used, the architectural idea must also be communicated through drawings, diagrams, models or other design material. The competition is open to architects, designers, students and creatives worldwide, and the three winning entries share prizes of $50, $30 and $20.
