MimED2026, the 25th edition of the Mimarlık Öğrencileri Proje Ödülleri (Architecture Student Project Awards), is open to architecture students in Türkiye and Northern Cyprus. Run every year by the Architecture Education Association (Mimarlık Eğitimi Derneği, MimED), it rewards projects made in design studios during the 2025-26 academic year. Digital registration and uploads close at 23:59 on 9 November 2026, and the results are announced on 21 December 2026 at Istanbul Technical University’s Taşkışla building.
About the awards
MimED has held the student awards since 2001. Rather than setting a brief, the programme looks at the work students already produce in studio, and it aims to give a broad picture of architectural education across the country. Projects compete within four categories that follow the year of study: first, second, third and fourth year. The 2025 edition received 608 submissions.
Who can enter
- Undergraduate students registered in architecture departments in Türkiye and the TRNC.
- Projects made in architectural design studios in the 2025-26 autumn, spring or summer school semesters; summer internship work does not count.
- Individual entries or groups of up to three students. Students may enter several projects, each with its own registration and fee.
- Graduation, diploma and final semester projects are not accepted in the fourth year category. Graduates may enter work they made before graduating.
How it works
The competition runs in two stages. Entrants register on the competition website, mimedprojects.com, upload up to two portrait A1 panels as JPG files and add a 200 word text in Turkish and another in English. Each upload is sent to the studio tutor for approval, after which the TL 300 fee is paid; both must be done by 11 November. The jury preselects online, with results on 7 December. Shortlisted entrants then deliver the same panels mounted on rigid A1 boards to İTÜ Taşkışla on 14 or 15 December, or post them by 14 December, together with an identity envelope. Panels must stay anonymous, and AI-assisted visuals have to be labelled under the image.
Jury and prizes
The jury is made up of Arzu Erdem, Bahar Avanoğlu, Boğaçhan Dündaralp, Cem Sorguç, Deniz Aslan, Güven Arif Sargın, Meltem Aksoy, Nilay Ünsal Gülmez, Tülin Hadi, Zeynep Ataş and Zeynep Dündar. It meets on 19 and 20 December 2026. In every category it gives one achievement award of TL 20,000, one encouragement award of TL 15,000 and a number of jury special awards of TL 10,000 each, all with certificates.
