The WIA Recognition Award honors women architects and designers whose work, leadership, and impact contribute to advancing architecture and the built environment.

Have you achieved licensure between December 2024 and December 2025? The Women in Architecture Recognition Award honors one recently licensed woman architect who demonstrates strong leadership skills and a commitment to the growth and advancement of our profession.

The selected recipient receives a $1,000 stipend towards travel and miscellaneous expenses at the AIA Conference on Architecture, which will be held in San Diego, CA, on June 10-13, 2026.

Eligibility

Eligible candidates must have achieved licensure between December 2024 and December of 2025, live in the New York City area, and be a member of the AIA New York Chapter.

How to Enter

  • One essay of not more than 500 words describing your leadership role in the professional community
  • Resume
  • 2 letters of recommendation (from different practices and/or organizations)
  • Proof of licensure
  • Photos to illustrate your leadership commitments and contribution to the professional practice and community (a plus)

Submission Deadline

The submission deadline is noon on January 9, 2026. The entry package must be submitted as one pdf file (max 6MB) to [email protected]

Announcement

The winner is announced during the WIA Annual Holiday Party, this year taking place Thursday, 1/29, 6:30–8:30pm at the Dell Anno Showroom. Register here.
