Art Omi invites visitors to the inauguration of TAELON7: Limbo Engawa and Michael Meredith and Hilary Sample: A Dome with Four Oculi at the Sculpture & Architecture Park at Art Omi on Saturday, September 19, from 2 to 5 PM.

This event is free and suitable for all ages. While RSVPs are appreciated, walk-ins are always welcome.

Schedule of Events

The afternoon will commence with TAELON7: Limbo Engawa at 2 PM.

TAELON7: Limbo Engawa represents the Hudson Valley’s first showing of a transcontinental collaboration between Art Omi and Accra’s Limbo Museum. Created by architect Juergen Benson-Strohmayer of TAELON7, this project was initially unveiled at Limbo Museum in Accra, Ghana, in March, where it was situated on the museum’s incomplete concrete framework. For its exhibition at Art Omi, the installation has been transformed into a standalone landscape pavilion, adapted to resonate with the fields, wetlands, and forests of the Hudson Valley.

At 3 PM, the event will continue with Michael Meredith and Hilary Sample: A Dome with Four Oculi.

This piece brings the architectural firm MOS to Art Omi with a dome covered in aluminum shingles—partially inspired by a diminutive Pantheon and an incorrectly placed silo top—designed as a space for sitting, gathering, and observing the park.

The opening will feature three musical performances inside A Dome with Four Oculi:

  • Jason Treuting’s work, performed by Ji Hye and Sō Percussion
  • Christian Quiñones and Charlotte Mundy’s work, performed by the artists
  • Donnacha Dennehy’s work, performed by Ji Hye and Sō Percussion

These two openings mark the beginning of Art Omi’s fall architecture programming, introducing newly commissioned and site-responsive works from two distinct practices in dialogue throughout the park.
