AIA New York has opened entries for the AIANY Design Awards 2027, its annual programme recognising architectural design in New York and around the world. Submissions close on Monday, 7 December 2026, and winners will be announced at the Design Awards Jury Symposium on 11 January 2027. The 2027 jury is still to be named.
Four categories
- Architecture: completed buildings of any type.
- Interiors: interiors and related architectural work, including new approaches to building components and products.
- Projects: temporary structures, pavilions, conceptual work, research and competition entries. Work need not be intended for construction, but projects done for academic credit are excluded.
- Urban Design: built and unbuilt work addressing environmental and urban challenges beyond the scale of a single building.
The jury can give Citation, Merit and Honor awards in each category and may choose one Honor Award recipient as Best in Competition. Entries are judged on how well each project meets its own objectives, with attention to ecological stewardship and social responsibility; submitters complete the relevant parts of the AIA Common App.
Eligibility and fees
Architecture and Interiors entries must have been completed after 1 January 2022 and be submitted by an eligible registered architect, either an AIA New York member, a New York State registered architect practising in New York City, or any New York State registered architect for a project located in the city.
