Architecture for London is on the lookout for an architect or architectural designer to become part of its London-based team.
The ideal candidate will showcase a strong enthusiasm for design that minimally impacts the environment.
Our studio focuses on the development of sustainable structures and environments, with environmental impact being a crucial aspect of our projects. We adopt a research-driven, fabric-first methodology to sustainability, meticulously evaluating the embodied energy of materials and the energy efficiency of our buildings during operation. We aim to adhere to Passivhaus and EnerPHit standards, emphasizing low energy and comfort in our sustainable housing designs.
Our work encompasses a variety of private residential and commercial projects throughout London, engaging in all RIBA stages. Team members are responsible for their projects and collaborate directly with clients, enjoying considerable design freedom.
Key skills and experience
The selected candidate will exhibit:
- strong conceptual, design, and communication abilities
- excellent technical expertise
- experience on-site and in managing projects
- superior skills in digital and physical model-making, sketching, and using Photoshop
- understanding of statutory regulations, contracts, procurement, and delivery criteria
- a strong interest in sustainable design
- preferred proficiency in AutoCAD
- beneficial Passivhaus qualification or relevant experience

Terms and conditions
The salary for this position will align with the applicant’s experience and capabilities. This is a full-time role based at our studio in Farringdon. Applicants must possess the right to work in the UK. We are recognized as a Living Wage employer.
